BIOGRAPHY

Behzod Abduraimov – An old soul with a velvet sound

In 2017 Behzod Abduraimov, born in 1990 in Tasjkent (Uzbekistan), made his debut in our series in an awesome manner. One week earlier he first performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, which was also sensational. The daily newspaper Het Parool gave this review: “What a sweet, caressing tone, enveloped in the softest muslin, drenched in melancholy, and sung like a Russian nightingale in search of its mother. The listener straightaway realizes that a great artist is here at work, while he prepares himself for the virtuous outbursts that are yet to come. This time also Abduraimov made an overpowering impression. (. . . ). Sunday evening Abduraimov will play once again in the Concertgebouw, this time solo in the Meesterpianisten series. You will not want to miss this.”  Well, the reviewer was absolutely correct: is was a marvelous debut.
