BIOGRAPHY

Evgeny Kissin – Sweltering passion and metaphysical beauty

The Russian pianist Evgeny Kissin is a perfectionist pur sang. His formidable technique is completely subservient to the craving for a deep tone. His playing is replete with passion and does not fail to evoke euphoria, on the part of press and public. Five-star-reviews are the rule rather than the exception. De Telegraaf (five stars): “Already before the interval the enthusiastic public almost climbed on the chairs (. . .) Even the lowest basses continue to sing under the fingers of Kissin. At the other end of the spectrum is the finest imaginable filigree.” In June 2018 Kissin closed the 31st season in a memorable way with his performance of Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata and the Preludes of Rachmaninov. Euphoria everywhere.  Wenneke Savenije gave her article this heading: “Evgeny Kissin as soloist at the absolute summit.”
