BIOGRAPHY

Igor Levit – Debut of an extraordinary musician

In 2018 Igor Levit received the prestigious Gilmore Award and was the Royal Philharmonic Society’s “Instrumentalist of the Year.” Levit can already look back on an impressive career. He has performed on the most important podiums (as, for instance, Carnegie Hall) and has played with the world’s most prestigious orchestras, such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Levit’s most recent album—entitled LIFE—also met with a sensational reception. NRC Handelsblad awarded it five stars and characterized this exceptional pianist as follows: “Already in the first round Levit Levit punches you knock-out. What a purity. He knows how to give substance to a recital. The death of a friend inspired Levit in the choice of the music for this album. The album is a celebration of life in all is beauty and darkness. Intriguing, depressing. What skills, what richness.”
