BIOGRAPHY

The flegmatic Italian back with poetic Liszt

Since pianist Enrico Pace won the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht in 1989 he has been a welcome soloist in the most prominent concert halls, ranging from the London Wigmore Hall to the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. He can also be heard regularly at many important music festivals, such as those of Verbier, Luzern and Schleswig-Holstein.

Enrico Pace (1967) grew up in the Italian city of Rimini, known from ancient Roman excavations and Leonardo da Vinci. Pace: “I come from a family where there was a lot of love for music. My father had a large record collection that mesmerized me as I listened to his albums as a child. I remember that Liszt’s piano concertos particularly impressed me. Apparently, I already back then had a special bond with his music. In the beginning we did not have a piano at home, but there was one in the house of relatives of ours. When my parents saw that I enjoyed it a lot, they bought a piano. I’m still very grateful to them for that, because now I could really start studying. I got my first piano lessons at the local music school in Rimini.”
