BIOGRAPHY

Burning passion and metaphysical beauty
Evgeny Kissin was born in Moscow on October 10, 1971. At a very young age he was admitted to the Gnessin School of Music, where he came under the care of Anna Pavlova Kantor, his first and only teacher. At age twelve he received international recognition after performing in the Moscow Conservatory, where he played the two piano concerts of Chopin. Meeting conductor Herbert von Karajan on August 9, 1988 proved to be of decisive importance.
