Nelson Goerner: Argentinian master of nuance and colour of tone

On April 7, 2013 Nelson Goerner unexpectedly became the star of the evening when he replaced Nelson Freire who became ill. This resoundingly successful debut resulted in an invitation to open the 28th season in October 2014. It proved to be a very impressive performance and the newspapers reacted lyrically to this gallant feat. De Volkskrant headed its review with: ‘Superior balance between moving lines and half notes.’ Trouw also gave a maximum rating of five stars. The reviewer continued this eulogy as follows: ‘Nelson Goerner emerged as a modest but far from timid artist of a rare calibre.  With his refined, polished, intelligent and melodious play he succeeded in keeping the audience more enthralled than many more famous pianists, who repeatedly perform in this series.
